The reference order
Trail, Pure Sequence, Sequence, Colour, Pair and High Card are listed from strongest to weakest in the cited classic description.
What to inspect
A trail has matching ranks. A pure sequence combines consecutive ranks and one suit; an ordinary sequence uses mixed suits. A pair compares its matching rank before the remaining card.
Aces need a declared convention
The cited Pagat description places A-2-3 before A-K-Q for runs and rejects K-A-2. Do not assume that every app adopts that ordering.
Practice one observation
Write a three-card sample and label ranks and suits separately. Identify its category, then inspect the part of the comparison that matters. Keep the selected convention beside the answer.
Do not confuse rank and settlement
A hand-ranking comparison does not record a requester, a turn or the rules of an app’s Show procedure. Those facts can still matter to a real table question.
